Digital Identities & Wallet

Build Your Own Business Wallet

The eIDAS 2.0 Regulation requires all EU Member States to provide a digital wallet by the end of 2026. While Germany is working on a state-run EUDI wallet, private-sector providers may also develop their own business wallet solutions.

Discover the possibilities of having your own business wallet, the benefits it brings, and how we can support you throughout the implementation.

Here’s a look at the architecture behind the EUDI Wallet

We have simplified the actors and connections. You can find the full overview here: eudi.dev

Why build your own business wallet?

If you, as a bank, public authority, or company, handle your identity processes yourself, you remain independent and strengthen your relationship with customers and partners. Instead of verifying data through third-party providers, identity verification, signatures, and credential management are carried out directly within your own system.

The result:

  • You gain more control over your data and processes.

  • You offer seamless user experiences without media disruptions.

  • You can offer new digital services that build on existing identities.

  • You build lasting trust by providing everything from one source.

What possibilities open up with your own business wallet?

Your own business wallet unlocks a whole new range of opportunities in handling digital identities. For customers, employees, or partners, you stay in full control of which credentials are issued, managed, and applied.

Your wallet allows you to, for example:

  • Issue digital identities, e.g., for customers, citizens, or employees.

  • Securely, automatically, and auditably verify and approve credentials.

  • Seamlessly embed signatures and seals into your existing processes.

  • Link your services – from account onboarding and contract agreements to access control.

Business Wallet as a Service –
The building blocks you can cover with us

Code

You receive the underlying EUDI Wallet code, allowing you to begin your own development and integration efforts immediately.

Hosting

When hosting your business wallet, we provide the necessary infrastructure so you can securely operate services such as issuing, verifying, and managing digital credentials.

Security & Regulation

We provide you with dual protection for your wallet architecture, consisting of a WSCA as an API interface and a WSCD as a hardware component. Naturally, all fully compliant with eIDAS 2.0 to ensure regulatory peace of mind.

QES as a Wallet Feature

The eIDAS regulation requires every wallet to support a QES function. As an authorized TSP, we handle the issuance of the QES – and you can seamlessly integrate our service into your wallet.

The EUDI Wallet ecosystem brings together many different actors. We highlight the key ones you need to know when developing or running your own business wallet.

What does a QEAA provider do?

A QEAA provider is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) that issues digital and legally reliable attestations for certain attributes of a person or organization. These QEAAs are stored in the wallet and can include information such as name, date of birth, or professional qualifications.

What does a QES provider do?

A QES provider (Qualified Electronic Signature Provider) is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) authorized to issue qualified electronic signatures. QES represents the highest level of security for digital signatures and is legally recognized as equivalent to a handwritten signature. The EUDI Wallet allows users to seamlessly apply qualified electronic signatures.

What does a PuB-EAA provider do?

A PuB-EAA provider (Public Electronic Attestation of Attributes Provider) is a public authority or mandated organization that issues digital attestations of official attributes such as nationality or residence. These attestations are legally equivalent to paper documents.

What do WSCA & WSCD do?

The security architecture of the EUDI Wallet consists of the Wallet Secure Cryptographic Application (WSCA) and the Wallet Secure Cryptographic Device (WSCD). The WSCA manages cryptographic processes and communication, while the WSCD serves as a protected hardware environment (similar to an HSM) responsible for key management. Together, they ensure integrity, authenticity, and confidentiality.

What does an EAA provider do?

An EAA provider (Electronic Attestation of Attributes Provider) is a trusted organization that issues digital attestations of personal or organizational attributes, such as memberships or roles within a company. However, these attestations do not carry legal certainty, as no QTSP is involved.
